Course Registration Guidelines – Team KASSI / CASI Korea

To help ensure a smooth registration and course experience, please review the following guidelines:

• Course Registration Deadline

Course registrations must be completed no later than 3 weeks prior to the course start date.

• Pre-Course Materials

Complementary course information, including access to online study materials, will be provided approximately 14 days before the course begins.

• Membership Requirements

Current CASI members are required to have their membership dues paid at least 1 month before the course start date.

If dues are not paid by this time, your booking may be forfeited in accordance with CASI policy, and a 100% cancellation fee may apply.

• Dual Members (CASI & CSIA)

For dual members, please ensure that CASI membership dues are paid at least 1 month prior to the course.

If dues remain unpaid, participation may not be possible, and Team KASSI – CASI Korea may apply the standard 100% cancellation fee, as per CASI policy.

During the 2025–2026 season, CASI Headquarters will also be celebrating the 20th anniversary of CASI exams in Korea (Team KASSI). Despite difficult slope conditions this season and some challenges in planning, we were able to reintroduce the Level 3 module in Korea.

By participating in this season’s modules and learning practical skills, candidates will be much better prepared for next year’s exam. In addition, we are planning to run Prep Programs for Levels 1 to 3 next season, with the possibility of inviting one or two supervisors, as we have done in the past.

For these reasons, this season’s Level 3 module is very important. However, the current level of interest among Level 3 candidates in Korea is quite low.

In Korea, the Riding Component is generally considered the most popular module, possibly because other components are conducted in English. I expected stronger interest in the Riding Component, but participation has been surprisingly low.

This made me question whether it was a mistake to assume that riders would see value in objectively evaluating their riding skills and using the process to improve. One of the main reasons CASI exams were offered in Korean was to support instructors who felt limited by English, even though their riding level was high. Despite offering exams in Korean, participation still remained low.

Of course, cost is a concern, but compared to most countries (except Canada), the exam fees in Korea are relatively affordable.

Recently, there have been questions such as, “Can I participate in only the riding component?” and concerns about scheduling conflicts due to the Lunar New Year holiday. Currently, the event is scheduled for February 17–18, and I am considering moving the Riding Component to February 19–20.

Even if the program does not reach full capacity, I believe it is important to listen to those who truly want to participate and move forward with the program.

After this season, CASI exams will have been conducted in Korea for 20 years. Over these years, many people have faced difficulties but continued to participate with passion and dedication. Just as I did in the beginning, I want to spend another season with those people.

As long as they are here, I want to continue beyond the 21st anniversary—until the day I step away from this role.

웃프닝이지만 CASI HQ에서는 CASI - Korea(Team KASSI)의 CASI 테스트 20주년 기념이 이번 2025~2026 시즌으로

착오 판단을 하여 어렵게, 이 어려운 슬로프 상태에서도 다시금 레벨 3를 코스, 아니 모쥴을 한국에 도입을 할수 있었다. 

이렇게 이번 시즌 모듈들을 통해서 실직적인 사항들을 익혀놔야 내년에 있을 Exam을 잘 준비할 수 있을 것이다. 

내년 시즌엔 레벨 1 부터 3까지 Prep 프로그램 등도 진행할 계획이 서있기도 하다. (한두명이 왔던 감독관도 여럿을 초청할 계획이다) 

그리하여 이번 시즌의 레벨 3 모쥴은 여러모로 중요한데 현재 한국 내 레벨러들의 반응은 상당히 저조하다. 

현재 한국에서 인기가 있을 것으로 판단이 되는 모둘 중에 Riding Component, 영어로 진행이 된다는 불편(?)함에 다른 콤포넌트 보다는 

상대적으로 인기가 많을 것으로 생각을 했는데 의외로 관심도가 떨어지는 상황이다. 

CASI 레벨러가 된 이후 자신들의 라이딩도 체크해 볼 겸 그리고 레벨 업을 위해서 많은 도움이 될 것으로의 판단은 오판이었나? 

한국에서 한국어로 테스트를 진행을 하게 된 계기도 "영어 울렁증이 있어서..", "실력은 내가 레벨 4인데 영어라서.." 도움이 되고자, 그리고 "진짜?" 라는 의구심에 한국어 테스트도 진행을 해봤지만 여전히 참가율은 떨어졌다. 물론 비용의 이슈가 있지만 이것 또한 캐나다 현지를 제외한 다른 나라에 비해서 더 저렴하다.   

아뭏튼, "Riding이라도 참가가 가능하냐?"는.. 그리고 "구정(설날)이 끼어서 참가가 어렵다."는 의견이 있어 2월 17~18일에 있을 

Riding Component를 19일~ 20일로 바꾸려고 한다. 어차피 다 차지 않을 신청자들 이라면 그나마 뭐라도 하고싶단 의견에 귀 기울여 

진행을 하고 싶다. 이제 정말 이번 시즌이 지나면 20년 째 이 CASI 테스트를 한국에서 진행을 하는 것이다. 

정말 많은 고충을 격었지만 이렇게 어떻게든 참가를 하려는 열정이 있는 사람들로 이 시간들이 채워졌다. 

처음에도 그러했듯 앞으로 한해를 더 이들과 함께 하고 싶다. 이들이 있는 한 21주년을 넘어 내가 직장을 잃는 날까지 유지를 하고 싶다.
